The old Thai name for Bangkok. If you turn your head to the left you can see the big, central street Silom Road vanishing westwards, towards the big river. Turning your head to the right you can see the same street continue eastwards (and catch a glimpse of the entrances of Pat Pong). This is the street, where millions and millions (as a matter of fact, impossible to count) of small swallows (possiblyRiparia paludicola), come flying in every afternoon just before twilight in a seemingly endless stream, seeking their quarters for the night in the long row of deciduous trees in the middle of the street.
